As I write this final draft, describing my experiences while searching for a settled minister, it has been one week since our flower ceremony. As beautiful as the flowers were, they paled in comparison to the love we shared together in gratitude for Chris Parker. What a joy to see and feel so much true kindness, . . .

A pilgrimage
If a blog is supposed to be a short post, I'm in trouble - because our ministerial search over the past year was far from a short journey, more like a pilgrimage. Our seven member committee had a votive purpose beyond just settling a minister.

A bonus year
Our next interim minister, Rev. Dr. Janet Newman, refers to a third year of search as a bonus year. In an email to the search committee, she says
There is a great benefit to the congregation to have this additional time for discernment, and, at the end, celebration.
